Qualcomm introduced its new premium smartwatch processors today. These chips came with the names W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1, not Wear 5100 and Wear 5100+ as expected. And, of course, W stands for wearable technology. Here are all specs of the W5 Gen 1 series.
Qualcomm W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1 specs
Qualcomm W5 Gen 1, the result of Qualcomm’s agreement with Samsung, came out of 4nm manufacturing technology. They promise two times more performance than the wear 4100 series in terms of specs. In addition, the size of the chip is much smaller. But it supports many new connection types.
Qualcomm says that these chips offer more than 50 percent battery life. In other words, 4 nm production technology reveals the difference in efficiency. This can also be an advantage for Galaxy Watch. Because, unlike Huawei and Xiaomi, their batteries can only last for one day.
These chips also contain an auxiliary processing unit. The auxiliary unit in the previous generation had gone through the 28 nm fabrication process. The new series uses the 22 nm technique. So there is progress in this area as well. As mentioned above, this will also increase performance and decrease energy consumption in Qualcomm W5 Gen 1.
When we look at the specs of the W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1, we see that it supports the latest technologies such as Bluetooth 5.3 and EIS3.0. These processors are expected to be released by the end of this year. They will first appear in OPPO’s smartwatches.
